A reflection on some of the things I've learned during the first year in my new home.Read More
Today is the first Friday of not just July, but also of the latter half of 2015.
This specific Friday also marks the end of a nearly yearlong hiatus from Jiaxin Machine, and I am so excited to have the machine up and running again. While most of that time was spent in the stacks of a university library, I spent a lot of the year also wanting to rejuvenate the blog with a more focused creative strategy. I felt a lot of frustration at not being able to find a theme across my writing, and this frustration paralyzed me in many ways.
It took being in a large city for me to realize that my somewhat scattered posts were actually very representative of my current life. A life that is always in flux, especially as a student starting to think about career paths while also still needing to decide what to eat for dinner tonight. The more and more I think about it, the more and more I feel that my blog's topic dispersion is a very truthful portrayal of myself-- especially now as I try to maximize every minute of my time in New York.
While the writing across my blogs might tighten up a little, the content will remain largely the same. Maybe someday I will comfortably settle into a more targeted creative strategy, but for now I'm still exploring. In my month that I've been here,I have learned so much about both my professional and emotional self and I hope my summer experiences continue to paint a vivid picture of what my future may hold.
